Stoneflower – CD Launch

Fri 6th December @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$25 – $30
stoneflower

With compelling beauty and craftsmanship, Australian trio Stoneflower steal the hearts of audiences around Australia with their evocative journeys through vocal jazz, Brazilian bossa nova & melodic pop interpretations. This ensemble showcases the virtuosic artistry of guitarist Stephen Magnusson and PBS Young Elder of Jazz recipient Tamara Murphy (bass & backing vocals) with the silken voice of Jacqueline Gawler (member of multi-award winning quintet Coco’s Lunch).

Stoneflower performances showcase this trio’s exquisite attention to detail, lyrical approach and masterful interpretation of well-loved songs and Brazilian classics – producing a collective onstage energy and sound that is soulful, passionate, and entirely magnetic.

This special performance is the official launch of their second album, co-presented by the Melbourne Jazz Co-Operative and the Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival.

‘Effortlessly fluid vocals…’ The Age

‘Jazz of a very high order…’ Kenny Weir, Sunday Herald Sun

‘Stoneflower’s appearance at the 2014 Surrey Hills Music Festival was a highlight of the event…sophisticated, lyrical, intricate, intense and languid in measures’. Surrey Hills Music Festival
