Sun 20th October @ 8:30 pm - 10:30 pm$15 – $20
Impressive young guitarist/composer Matt Hoyne recently premiered, mirror, a collection of songs and stories that invites the listener to reflect on the world we inhabit. These songs were crafted with the hope of making all people feel welcome and included, a night of music that offers something for anyone who wishes to listen. At times political, at times personal, the social nature of this music is always at the fore, seeking to bring people together. mirror, created by Hoyne, reconciles a love for jazz and improvisation with a need to acknowledge and respond to the 21st century.
Through music and words, these songs are a hopeful reflection for all, employing a wide musical palette that truly contains something for everyone. The mirror project includes some of Melbourne’s most exciting improvising musicians, featuring Merinda Dias-Jayasinha (vocals), Tom Noonan (alto saxophone) Tamara Murphy (bass) and James Mclean (drums), in addition to Matt Hoyne (guitar).
