$15 – $20

“prolific and mellifluous” – All About Jazz

Callum G’Froerer is a trumpet player active between many musical genres – improvisation, commissioning new contemporary repertoire, and composition. In the jazz realm, he has performed widely across Australia and at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival, and internationally (Dizzy’s at the Lincoln Center, Monterey Jazz Festival, B-Flat Berlin).

G’Froerer was nominated for the 2013 Jazz Bell Awards and long-listed for the 2014 Freedman Jazz Fellowship. He has been a member of the Bennetts Lane Big Band, Mace Francis Orchestra, and the Johannes Luebbers Dectet.

G’Froerer has released two albums as a leader: 2013’s City Speaks (recorded by Mal Stanley for ABC Jazztrack) and 2015’s Space Available. He will release a third album on the Earshift label in early 2021.

G’Froerer’s quartet performs compositions and structured improvisations that create detailed harmonic and rhythmic foregrounds set amongst spacious backgrounds, extended and overlapping group phrasing, and fascinating collective textures.
