This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the Tim Stevens Trio, which was a formed in 2003 after Tim returned from two years living in Sydney. He had played in Ben Robertson’s Songhouse ten years before that, so was very happy to be able to include him in the band, and had met Dave Beck around the traps at a few ’sit-in’-type situations, which were always interesting and seemed to present possibility.

The trio was built on original composition and released its first album in 2004. Since then it has made four further albums (on the Rufus label), blending Tim’s compositions with collective improvisation, and developed a sympathetic and democratic personality that demonstrates enormous flexibility and fecundity.
