Dressage with Julien Wilson – Debut
Sun 20 August @ 7:30 pm
$18 – $25
‘Lee’s playing gripped me where in one racing passage he tightened his lyrical sound, made the chord more dissonant and distorted, until he seemed to meet resistance in the air.’ – John Clare, SIMA, Nov. 2007
Guitar virtuoso Nash Lee moved to Melbourne from Byron Bay with Twelve Tone Diamonds around two decades ago, making a memorable impact with that band, other ensembles such as Murphy’s Law and Shannon Barnett Quartet, and his own groups (such as Rabid Hawk). He was also a finalist in the National Guitar Jazz Awards at the 2007 Wangaratta Festival.
After a break from performing, Lee has made a welcome return to the jazz scene with Dressage, in which he combines with Nick Delaney (electric bass) and Arron Light (drums). To hear them is to experience the chemistry that can only come from decades of friendship and musical collaboration. Joining them to perform Lee’s originals is longtime collaborator Julien Wilson (tenor saxophone),
