Dan Sheehan’s Infinite Ape (with Samuel Hall)

Sun 11th February @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm

$15 - $20
Dan Sheehan

Since its formation in 2013, Infinite Ape has always been a shape-shifting, collaborative entity. Placing open-ended collective improvisation at the core of its methodology, the group aims to celebrate the remarkable creative voices of its contributors and to push boundaries for personal and interactive language and expression.

The music that unfolds is unpredictable and unrepeatable, incorporating sublime lyricism, avant-grade instincts, and an array of influence from across the jazz and contemporary classical traditions. Pianist Dan Sheehan has led the group through three album releases featuring different instrumental formations, with the debut ‘Infinite Ape’ earning a short listed Bell Award nomination in 2014.

Samuel Hall, the group’s original drummer, has been based in Europe since 2014. So for this occasion, a ‘reunion’ of sorts, will feature with long-time colleague and woodwind virtuoso Tony Hicks (bass clarinet/woodwinds), together with the remarkable trumpeter Reuben Lewis. Visit https://dansheehan.bandcamp.com/album/infinite-ape
